Job Description

We have an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Security Controller to join our growing security team. The role will report directly into the Senior Information Risk Owner and board level contact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with key stakeholders to ensure the maintenance of required security certification and accreditations
  • Manage the internal communication of all NESC security policies, both new and updated
  • Deliver security briefings and presentations to internal colleagues where required
  • Write, develop and deliver security training where required
  • Work to the NESC security assurance and compliance policies and procedures
  • Identifying actions and changes to policies and procedures where appropriate
  • Liaise with external vetting agencies to maintain a register of clearances relevant to all employee’s job roles.
  • Promote best practice security standards
  • Managing applications for National Security Vetting and aftercare

Manage and maintain:

  • Security Management Plans and Policies.
  • Security Operating Procedures.
  • The effectiveness of Security Controls.
  • Ensure the NESC Security Incident Management process is followed for the timely identification, evaluation and recording of non-compliance and information security risks, escalating as required.
  • Support the NESC visitor process.
  • Contribute to internal and external audits.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry best practice in relation to security governance, risk & compliance.

General Operational duties:

  • Attend Security team and cross-departmental meetings as required.
  • Remain compliant with all applicable NESC processes and procedures.

Essential Qualifications/Experience:

  • Security Clearance is a requirement for this role.
  • Experience of security controls in a defence environment.
  • Experience of developing security policy and standards.

Competency/Skill requirements:

  • Excellent current knowledge of security standards.
  • Adept at problem-solving, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to engage effectively with all audiences/stakeholders.
  • Proficient knowledge of IT systems and associated Microsoft software.
