After a busy competition block, where I competed in four events over the past two months, I’m pleased to report steady progress throughout. While I fought well in the first two competitions, I did not place. However, on October 27th, I achieved a 7th-place finish at the Bosnia & Herzegovina European Open.
For my final international competition of the year, I made the decision to move up a weight class from -90kg to -100kg for the Rome European Open (10th November). This change proved to be an excellent choice, as I secured a bronze medal—my first European Open medal and my highest career achievement to date. This milestone is incredibly exciting and a sign of what’s to come.
The result has also sparked discussions with my coaches about potentially competing permanently in the -100kg category. Notably, this is the second time I’ve medalled in this weight class this year, the first being at the Valencia Super Cup in August.
Following the competition in Rome, I attended a training camp in Cyprus, where I had the chance to train and spar with high-level athletes in both the -90kg and -100kg categories. This provided invaluable insights into how my judo style performs across these weight classes and will help guide future decisions.
